There are many ways to make a pouffe with their own hands - it can be and products from old tires, unnecessary things or plastic bottles, more about how to do it will be discussed below in this article.

Schemes and drawings

Before we start the creative process, it is necessary to stock up on schemes and drawings of the future product.

The drawing is needed in order to draw all the details that will be needed for the pouffe.

It indicates the size of all the parts separately, the materials needed for tailoring, and, of course, the filler.

On a wide paper to be convenient to use, is drawn directly to the pattern itself. Here will be the four sides of the pouf and two circles. Next, the parts are cut out and then transferred to the fabric. Once the patterns are ready, you can proceed to assembly.

Materials and tools for work

If you decide to make a pouffe yourself, then before doing this, carefully think about what materials it will be made of. For the covers themselves, only durable, high-quality, practical materials are used, among which you can highlight:

  1. Velour. It has a soft, silky texture and a variety of colors. The fabric is rather capricious in time of care for it, i.e. dirt stains are poorly removed from it, so it is best not used on poufs designed for children's rooms or the kitchen.
  2. Furniture cotton. Convenient in operation since it is resistant to all kinds of dirt, easy to wash out, not exposed to burning.
  3. Jacquard. Beautiful, dense, quite durable fabric. It can be easily cleaned and doesn't lose its color during washing.
  4. Flock. Pretty soft material, resistant to all kinds of dirt, not deformed.
  5. Microflora. The material has a wide color palette. It is quite durable and easy to use.
  6. Leather substitute. The most popular material, which is valued for its practicality and excellent performance characteristics. However, one disadvantage it still has - susceptibility to scratches. If there are pets or small children in the house, it is better to give up this option.
  7. Natural leather. The disadvantages of this type of material does not have, if only the high price of it.

For the filler, a variety of material is used:

  • balls of polystyrene foam;
  • foam rubber;
  • sawdust rubber;
  • paper;
  • sintepon.

The most important thing to consider when choosing a filler is that it should be environmentally friendly, safe and durable.

Of the tools to create a masterpiece with their own hands will be needed:

  • sewing machine;
  • material for the cover and padding;
  • stuffing;
  • threads;
  • scissors;
  • pattern paper;
  • decor.

How to make a pouffe from improvised materials

Options for making a pouffe with their own hands can be found a huge number on the Internet.

You can show your imagination, and you can use already ready-made. We will consider the most popular and popular ways to create a pouffe with their own hands, which are made from improvised materials.

To make it work, you need to have patience and follow the suggested instructions.

From plastic bottles

Everyone in the house will find empty plastic bottles that we always throw away. You can not do this, and with their help create an original and at the same time useful thing, which will fit perfectly into the interior of your apartment.

To create a soft seat, it is necessary to prepare the bottles themselves. They must be washed and the stickers must be removed.

In order for the plastic to become a strong material it must be placed in a cold place for one hour, in addition they must be opened.

After this time, the bottles are closed and placed under a hot radiator, so that they can expand as best as possible.

Once the bottles are ready, proceed to the selection of material. For upholstery, you should choose a suitable fabric such as faux fur or tapestry. The fabric should be thick and washable.

So, let's get to work, and for this we'll prepare:

  • a box cutter;
  • sixteen one and a half liter bottles;
  • thread;
  • needles;
  • sewing machine;
  • Two kinds of duct tape - regular and double-sided;
  • Three centimeters thick foam rubber;
  • zipper;
  • A piece of plywood or corrugated cardboard;
  • An upholstery fabric.

Now that everything is ready, you can begin:

  1. We wrap the central bottle with double-sided tape, and then attach the next three or four bottles to it. Using regular duct tape, we fix them firmly together, having previously aligned them on a hard, straight surface in height.
  2. Then the remaining bottles are attached in a circle, which are also wrapped with scotch tape.
  3. Two circles are cut out of cardboard, corresponding to the size of the pouffe seat. Then again we wrap the tape around our future seat on top and bottom.
  4. We take a piece of foam rubber, completely wrap the blank and sew.
  5. A piece of foam is cut to the shape of the seat and sewed from the top to the edges of the already sewn.
  6. Now takes the measurements for the upholstery. First we make a drawing, then transfer the resulting part on the fabric.
  7. The workpiece is cut out and sewn on a sewing machine. A zipper is sewn into one side.

That's all there is left only to stretch the cover on the pouffe and you can use a comfortable, soft seat, which is perfect for children's rooms.

From a tire

In addition to plastic bottles, you can make an upholstered seat without a backrest out of old tires. You will get a sturdy, comfortable pouffe for the hallway or another room.

To do this, take a piece of plywood or MDF and cut two circles out of it. They should be slightly smaller than the tire itself in diameter. We will use them to cover the holes in the tire.

Then using self-tapping screws they are attached to the tire in three to four places. The workpiece is ready and now you can proceed to its design. It can be done in two ways:

  1. The top is glued with foam rubber, and on the sides it is fixed with a normal stapler. We make a cover and pull it over the workpiece. If you have small bars, you can make legs for the pouf, pre-painting them.
  2. For this method, a thick braided rope is taken, with which you need to wrap the pouf, pre-spreading it with glue. Two circles are glued in a spiral to begin with, and then on the sides. The ends of the rope are hidden inside, and everything is covered with varnish.

That's it, the two assorted tire seats are completely ready.

Chipboard frame upholstered with fabric

To make it, you need to take:

  • wooden boards or a piece of chipboard 50 centimeters in width and one in thickness;
  • a saw or an electrical jigsaw;
  • ruler;
  • tape measure;
  • a simple pencil;
  • several nails that are more than three centimeters long;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver, or screwdriver;
  • glue;
  • stapler for construction;
  • sintepon;
  • a piece of foam rubber fifty by fifty centimeters square;
  • an upholstery fabric seventy by two hundred and fifteen centimeters square;
  • fabric for the lining
  • needle and thread
  • scissors
  • furniture legs (4 pieces);
  • several self-tapping screws to attach the legs;
  • drill;
  • The nozzle for the drill, the diameter of which is three centimeters;
  • Five large buttons.

Manufacturing:

  1. The first thing to do is to mark the wooden parts, and then everything is sawn out. You will need six square boards with a side of fifty centimeters, a couple of square boards with a side of forty-six centimeters, and a couple of pieces of bar. The lengths of the planks are calculated using the formula L = 50 - 2 * T, where L is the length and T is the thickness of the planks.
  2. Take four boards of 50 to 50 centimeters. Measuring on one of them from the edge of half a centimeter, three nails are hammered in, the distance between them should be the same.
  3. The end face of the other is smeared with glue, and then the other is attached, and the nails are hammered in.
  4. By analogy, four more such blanks are made, which are connected to each other with nails to form a cube.
  5. The end of the bar is smeared with glue, then it is inserted as a spacer between the boards and nailed on three sides. In parallel, on the other side of the second prop is made. This will be the base for the bottom of the pouffe.
  6. The synthetic fibers are fastened with a stapler in the corner of the figure.
  7. Each side is dabbed with glue over which the sintepon is wrapped. You can go additionally with a stapler.
  8. Excess material is removed. Only two centimeters are left on each side.
  9. The product is notched in the corners to prevent folds.
  10. Upholstery fabric is sewn around the edges and stretched over the workpiece, using a stapler to fix the fabric.
  11. A square is cut out of the fabric, which is stretched over the side of the bars and then secured with a stapler.
  12. Mount the legs to the corners of the workpiece with self-tapping screws.
  13. Board 46 by 46 centimeters is glued to the lining material with the subsequent fixing to it on the wrong side. The same is done with the second board.
  14. One board is placed with the fabric upwards - it is the bottom of the pouffe.
  15. Five holes are made in the other board, and then a piece of foam rubber is glued to it.
  16. Using a drill bit, five circles are made in the prepared holes.
  17. On top of the foam is glued sinton, on which the upholstery is placed, followed by fixing with a stapler.
  18. Next, buttons are sewn to the places where holes are made, the thread should be stretched so that the buttons sink there.
  19. Another board is taken, placed with the cloth inside and nailed.

A lid is put on top, that's all the pouffe is ready.

From a wooden box

For this product need boards, which are nailed to a box of any size. In addition we will need furniture wheels for easy moving around the room:

  • The corners of the box are fastened together with the corners, so that the design is sturdier.
  • For the tops and bottoms you need pieces of plywood, from which you cut out a circle of desired diameter and then screw it to the box.
  • A piece of foam rubber is cut to the diameter of the lid and attached with glue to the top circle.
  • Then a furniture fabric is taken, of which a blank is made.
  • Once it is ready it must be stretched over the box.
  • The wheels are attached to the bottom circle.

That's all, the pouffe is ready.

From a nightstand

Manufacturing technology is similar to the previous one with one exception, there is no need to make a frame, for this purpose you take an old unnecessary nightstand.

Soft pouf-bag

Such a soft seat will be a great decoration of any house. To make it, you will need:

  • paper for the pattern;
  • lining fabric (300 by 150);
  • heavy threads;
  • upholstery fabric (320x150);
  • 60 cm zipper;
  • stuffing.

To begin with a pattern is prepared, which is then transferred to the fabric:

  • Two and a half centimeters should be left for the seam before cutting.
  • First the inner bag is made, then the upper one.
  • Once the lining fabric bag is sewn, filler is poured into it through the hole left, which is then sewn up.
  • Then the second bag is sewn with a zipper sewn into it.
  • As soon as it is ready, it is put on the pouf, and the zipper is fastened.

Here is such a soft, comfortable pouf turned out.

Fillers for soft poufs

There are many different fillers for frameless furniture. Each of them is original and has its own characteristics. Among them there are: both artificial and natural. The main advantage of natural fillers is that they have no chemical components.

Wood sawdust

Only sawdust and shavings from cedar or pine are used for stuffing.

The fact is that the smell coming from them discourages pests, and they also have a therapeutic effect. But it needs to be changed more often.

Down

This is a very light filler, which from time to time is knocked down. Therefore, it must be dried.

Buckwheat husk

It is very popular. It allows you to create comfortable, comfortable furniture.

Styrofoam

It looks like small-sized balls. They are quite elastic, so they create a good volume.

Hollofiber

Lightweight filler that allows you to get comfortable, soft furniture.

Polyurethane foam

The material is very elastic and does not cause allergic reactions.

In addition, as a filler you can use old things such as: a blanket, pillow, rags, etc.

Thus, in the creation of poufs their own hands there are no restrictions.

They are suitable for making any old or unnecessary things that will be given a "second life". Moreover, the size, texture and color schemes everyone chooses for themselves, which makes things even more unique.

The most important thing is to have patience, imagination and forward, to create.
