Features of pop-it as an anti-stress toy
Pop-it is a flat silicone or rubber toy-antistress with cells in the form of hemispheres. When you press them, the toy makes a clicking sound. The name Pop-it itself translates to "burst it."
The process resembles the bursting of bubble wrap. You can play with pop-it endlessly: just squeeze the cells backwards.
The trinket can come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. The shape ranges from simple circles and squares to silhouettes of different characters. Pop-it can be both monochrome and rainbow.
Use the toy in different ways. For example, put small objects under it and guess which bubble they are.
Or two can play: throw the dice and poke as many bubbles as the die rolls. The loser is the one who can't click his number. Some people even started guessing on a pee-pee.
The popularity of this antistress is a credit to TickTock. Videos with the hashtag #Popit have already gathered 8 billion views. In Russia, #Popit has gained 2 billion views. Network users show the toy, ways to interact with it and praise its qualities.
One thing is clear - with its popularity skyrocketing, this toy is not going to escape anyone. Do you already have a popit? Let's make one.

Pop-it with your own hands at home: step by step instructions
Next, we will consider several options for making this toy at home.
Pop-it out of cardboard
- We take 4 sheets of cardboard 18×18 cm in size. Glue them together, this will make the base more strong;
- From paper of 6 different colors we cut out 12 (2 strips of each color) multicolored strips 18×3 cm in size;
- We glue them one by one on a cardboard base, gluing the whole handicraft. We have 6 strips on one side of the cardboard and 6 on the other;
- On top of each strip we do pencil marks at intervals of 3 cm. So we will place the pimples evenly;
- On a separate sheet of cardboard draw a small circle and cut it out;
- We enclose the resulting circle to colored paper and trace it. On each color need to draw a 6-circle. They will be 36;
- We take the tape and laminate the circles on both sides;
- We make an incision with scissors from the edge of the circles to their center;
- We overlap the sides of the cut. The resulting cone is secured with a piece of tape. Do the same with all the workpieces;
- One diaper glued to all the marked places on the base and encircled;
- Cut holes for the dumpling;
- Glue the cones with pieces of tape on all sides. A big colorful pop-it is ready!
A simple paper and tape pop-it
- Take white paper and a round object about 4 centimeters in diameter. We trace it with a pencil on the paper twice, so that two identical outlines appear next to each other;
- If you want, color the circles in different colors. It is better not to use watercolor or other colors. It will soften the paper and the handicraft will be uneven. You can also draw a funny face or pictures on the circles;
- Laminate parts - on top of adhesive tape (and one side of the sheet, and the other);
- Cut out the outline of the two circles;
- To make the circles from flat to turn into a bubble, scissors make an incision from the edge of the circles to their center;
- Overlap the resulting edges. Secure the resulting cone with a piece of adhesive tape;
- On a thicker sheet of paper or cardboard draw the same two circles (they should not be too far apart). Around them draw large circles as follows. Connecting them, make a horizontal "figure of eight";
- If the cardboard is not colored, paint large circles. On them, too, draw or decorate with rhinestones and laminate them;
- Cut out the inner circles;
- We attach the blanks of the bubble to the holes and paste them with narrow strips of tape so that half of the tape went to the bubble, and the other half - to the base of the pop-it. The toy is ready! You can make it larger. To do this, draw as many bubbles as you need.
It is better to make the base of the pop-it from a double cardboard. This way the trinket will be sturdier and last longer.
On the internet you can find many templates for pop-it in many different shapes and figures. You can print them out.
Pop-its are made in the form of animals (elephants, giraffes, turtles, leopards), fruits and vegetables (pineapples, avocados, apples), objects. To give strength to the handicraft is better to do it on a photo paper or paste it with thick cardboard.
Pop-it with origami
You can also make a fun activity out of just paper. The claps from bursting will be just as ringing. The only disadvantage is short-lived.
Proceed in stages:
- Turn colored paper into the required number of squares of at least 7×7 centimeters. Each of them - a feather duster;
- Fold in half, then unroll and fold again in the opposite direction;
- Unfold and repeat the same steps, but diagonally. All bends must be done thoroughly and evenly;
- Turn the workpiece and put so that you get a diamond;
- Two side corners to fold inward and down to make a small square;
- Bottom corner of the bend to the top and unbend back;
- Bend again, but to the middle, up to the line that was formed in the previous step;
- Part of the bottom corner of the bend to the line. The whole figure is folded to the middle line of the smaller square;
- Turn the workpiece and repeat steps 6-8 on the other side;
- Layer on the right side unbent to the left;
- Repeat the action on the flip side of the workpiece;
- On the resulting side of the action items 6-7;
- Bend to the middle of the diamond corners on the sides;
- Rectangular part at the bottom of the fold in half and lift up to get a skirting;
- On the opposite side do 12-14 steps;
- Fix the sides with pencil glue (the other is welcome. This dries faster);
- Straighten the bottom to form a dome;
- In the same way we make the other "bubbles";
- Glue sides. Voila! Trinket ready.
Pop-it from a pill box
Don't have the right tools? There is always the easiest option. In our case, it's a pop-up from a pill box. Everyone has it at home. To make it, you need to:
- Carefully remove all foil from the back of the package. Pay special attention to the cells where the pills used to lie;
- Circle the blank on a sheet of paper. It will serve for design and decoration: it can be painted or simply painted in different colors;
- Cut out the paper cover and make holes in it where the cells will sag;
- Glue the base to the cover. You can fix it with duct tape, because glue may not contact well with the packaging material. Done!
There are many different ways to make pop-it at home. Before you buy it, it has both economic and a number of other advantages: fun to create, the possibility of individual and unique design, the use of recycled raw materials. Plus, it's just plain fun.
