Applique of an owl from paper palms

An owl or owl is a popular theme for crafts. They are crocheted and crocheted, made of paper and scraps of fabric, drawn with paints and felt-tip pens.

For children, the most accessible form of art creativity remains application of paper and fabric. Made from a template sample is often admired by others. A preschooler is able to perform quite a recognizable character with their own hands, using improvised materials.

Application - part of the educational process in kindergarten and at school. Children are taught to think creatively, to look at familiar materials as a source of inspiration when there is a desire to create something with their own hands.

One of these materials is ordinary absorbent cotton. Invite your child to make an owl out of it.

As a template for owl applique you can use children's palms, which are circled with a pencil on napkins. Their soft "palms" is easy to lay out the body and wings of the owl - they will resemble fluffy feathers.

To perform the applique you will need:

  • sharp scissors,
  • PVA glue;
  • a pack of tissues;
  • scraps of colored paper for the eyes, beak and paws of the owl;
  • A thick dark cardboard as a background.

The main step is to prepare "palms". Children willingly participate in this process, tracing their palm with a pencil on napkins.

Important! Adults can join in the process of cutting, so as not to damage the rather fragile material. If the child is good at it, let him cut out the base of the future owl himself.

The background of the applique should be delineated so that the fragments of the body of the owl do not go beyond the sketch. To do this, pencil outline the contours of the character, where the napkin blanks will be glued.

After the owl silhouette is completed, you can move on to its animation. You can use convex buttons for the eyes - black with gold rims. Under the eyes can be placed eyelashes, cut from dark paper.

Some elements can be drawn, the beak is better to do from a piece of cardboard, giving a little volume. The composition can be supplemented with elements of the night landscape - stars and the moon.

Applique of an owl from geometric shapes

Most readily children perform crafts on a familiar theme. Younger students like to make applications from improvised materials in different techniques.

The theme of wildlife can be reflected in geometric shapes. A good example is the original applique "owl" from cut colored paper. Feathers on the belly and wings are geometric shapes:

  • triangles;
  • oval elements;
  • small circles;
  • rhombi.

Consider in the photo an example of making an owl applique from triangular corners. Color of feathers can be varied, but featheriness is inappropriate. The tummy and breast can be lighter than the wings and other parts of the image.

Useful tip: Applique should be done with creativity. It is better to glue triangles in rows on the oval torso or fix them chaotically, but within the limits of the sketch.

Wings can be formed from the halves of a circle, supplemented by triangular feathers. The parts can first be laid out without glue to make a preliminary assessment of the result. When finished, you can complete the theme with landscape elements.

Owl from tear-off elements

A popular technique is tear-off applique. Laying out an image of an owl from pieces of paper or napkins is a fascinating activity. It forms the child's thought processes - from fragmentary fragments you get a whole picture.

This technique is suitable for preschoolers and elementary school students. Paper scraps to form the torso can easily be made from different materials, using color variations. You can be limited to colored fabric or paper, but scrappy fragments of tissues will give the fluffy owl more volume .

Note! As a base for the owl, you can use scraps of napkins, white absorbent cotton or a cut of toilet paper. They can be supplemented with feathers.

It is important that the image was harmonious - think of what to make pupils, ears, beak to paws. It is suggested to buy haberdashery "running eyes", if they fit the format of the head.

The composition can be supplemented with elements of a landscape visible in the distance - the city outskirts with illuminated windows. Offer children their own version of the composition - a tree with a hollow and owls or two owls under the moon and stars.

Appliqué of a wise owl from fabric

Suggest that the younger students create a large panel with an owl in goggles and an academic cap. It is worthy to become a decoration of the classroom. The character can be used at school parties and quizzes.

Children themselves can make an applique "wise owl" from thick fabric - in a funny "academic" cap with a tassel. Perform such a handicraft is a pleasure.

The owl can be dressed up in pants with suspenders, a white shirt with a bow tie or tie - it depends on your imagination and desire to tinker with the panel a little longer.

"Smart owl" is performed exactly like the other types of applique, the thematic decoration is different. Otherwise, the same tools (glue, scissors) and materials are used:

  • fabric for the background or base
  • flap for the main image
  • colored cardboard (brown, orange, black) for the eyes and beak.

The body can be made using an owl stencil for applique from a monochrome or colored fabric that is close in color to the feathers of the bird.

Fragments of the image are better to perform on ready-made templates, so that there are no errors in the proportionality of parts. If the feathers are performed separately, they should be prepared in advance.

The responsible step is to form the wings and head. The individual elements are glued to the bottom with an overlap, so that they overlap the lower parts. Wings are attached to the shoulder part of the torso. One wing can be lifted up with a pointer.

The parts are ready to be cut from cardboard, leather, or heavy fabric. Eyes with glasses and a cap are the main attributes of the "smart owl", so adults should participate in their making. Applique can be supplemented with a corner of the learning board with letters in the background.

Applique of an owl from leaves

Creating compositions from natural materials is an important part of a child's development. Autumn leaf applications do not involve the use of templates, but they contribute to the formation of creativity in the performance of simple tasks.

It develops fine motor skills and abstract imagination.

A pleasant pastime is the application of autumn leaves. Children learn to sort them by color and shape, to evaluate which part of the fall composition can be applied.

Pay attention! The best analogue of feathers - willow leaves, but they are not always found in their area. A complete substitute is any fallen leaves of an oblong shape. For wings with "fingers" oak leaves will do.

A beautiful applique of an owl is easy to create after a walk in an autumn forest or park, when there are many leaves of different colors around. Often such handicrafts are prepared for a children's exhibition.

Although the leaves will quickly dry out, it is desirable to photograph the child with their own "work" in order to preserve a good memory of the stages of children's creativity.

Excellent ornamental material - autumn leaves of trees growing in the middle belt:

  • maple;
  • cherry tree;
  • linden;
  • chestnut;
  • oak;
  • willow;
  • aspen;
  • rowan.

Additional material for fall applique is glue, thin colored cardboard. In some cases, thread, fishing line and double-sided tape are used.

The owl can be assembled from individual fragments on a rigid base - plywood, colored cardboard, unnecessary facing tiles or a piece of plastic.

It is better to glue the appliqué with PVA, laying out a version of the layout on the table in advance. The body is better to collect from the bottom up, row by row, marking the contours. The basis can take 2-3 large sheets, glued on the underside of adhesive tape.

If the body is ready, make out in the same way the head, connecting the tape. You can fasten the pointed leaves at once in such a way that the "ears" of the owl stick out. The eyes and the beak are better made of colored cardboard, drawing them with a felt-tip pen, and then glue them to the head.

Similarly, you can make a "flying owl", using a shape of cardboard, to hang it on a fishing line in a child's room.

Three-dimensional applique of an owl

From improvised materials and cardboard, you can make a three-dimensional applique in the form of an owl.

Method #1 - glue a plastic bottle with cut off tops with autumn leaves. When the base of the body is ready, add eyes, eyebrows and a beak.

The wings and paws of an owl can be made from any dense material that does not require trimming the edges:

  • felt;
  • cloth;
  • Faux leather or suede (scraps of an old purse or bag).

An improvised "Owl" can become a favorite decoration on a shelf with school supplies. Something similar can be constructed in the form of a pencil holder.

Method #2 - volumetric applique from colored circles attached to a small cylindrical roll of heavy paper or wallpaper. When forming it, it is necessary to wrap the "ears of an owl" at once.

Children may find it difficult to form the cardboard base of the figure. But they are happy to participate in the process of gluing the body elements of colored paper.

Tip: The lower part of the cardboard blank is better dissected, so it resembles feathers. Option - glue the base on the backing in the form of paws in front and a small tail on the back.

Pieces of the wings are made separately. Wings can be attached so that they envelope the torso, or inserted perpendicular to the base.

The head can be done separately, put "cap" on top of the blank torso. The shape of the eyes and beak performed randomly. The owl can be seated on a stump made of brown paper, glued sleeves of toilet paper or cardboard blanks desired shape.

Applique of an owl from cotton disks

Cotton disks - a good material for children's creativity. Funny applique from cotton disks - a white owl. A minimum of materials and a maximum of emotions from the results of labor.

The technique is close to working with felt, but the cotton disks are softer and more pliable, they are easy to cut with sharp scissors, forming a kind of feathers.

To perform the work you will need:

  • A sheet of colored pattern - background;
  • glue-pencil;
  • 4-5 cotton disks;
  • foil for the stars and the crescent moon;
  • Scraps of colored paper (black, brown, dark gray and white).

Order of Work:

  1. The owl needs somewhere to sit down - we prepare a "landing place" in the form of a thick branch of brown cardboard. It can be part of the trunk with a hole.
  2. Prepare the body of the owl from absorbent cotton disk, making incisions. Glue it on top of the branch.
  3. The head of the owl is made of the same absorbent cotton disk and glued over the body.
  4. The third disk we cut in half and make deeper notches on the rounded parts - these are the wings. We fix them to the torso by butt joints.
  5. Eyebrows or ears are made in the form of bundles with notches, inserted into the disk, completing the head of the character.
  6. When the body with the head and wings is ready, the owl needs to be "brought to life". To do this, cut out the eyes from yellow paper, add black pupils. Then glue beak and paws from brown cardboard or paper.

Decorations are optional. The branch can be supplemented with green or autumn leaves. Behind the owl in the night sky would look good with stars and the moon made of foil, glitter or yellow paper. If a winter pattern, complete it with snowflakes.

In the same way it is easy to perform a fabric applique of an owl from scraps of felt or cloth.

Paper owl applique

The simplest applique for preschoolers is performed on templates. Finished parts are made in stages, overlaying each other elements. They are glued to the base - a sheet of dark colored cardboard will do.

The advantage of this owl is the small number of parts of a simple shape. To begin with, templates and colored paper are prepared to cut out the parts of the owl and the tree branch for its "landing".

Tip! Teach the children to put symmetrical templates on the wrong side of the colored paper. It should be differently colored on different sides.

The first part - the torso. On top of it below is a branch - the owl must sit on it, even if the paws are not visible. Next fixed feet.

For the child, the most difficult part of the process is the head. It is desirable to help him if there are difficulties. Take your time connecting the parts, until all of the elements will be ready - eyes, ears and beak.

Lay out the details to assess how cute it turned out an owl. Perhaps something you will want to replace - attach "running eyes" to the finished appliqué base.

The wings and beak can be tinted with marker pen. The branch can be supplemented with leaves on the tree, smudging the ends, they can be slightly wrapped for volume.

We offer ready-made templates of an owl for applique and ready options for doing the work.
