How to model a dog with clay with his hands - step by step instructions for children
What only children do not mold from plasticine in childhood: fruits, vegetables, balls, fish, birds, different animals. One of the most favorite images of plasticine sculptures are dogs.
Children adore four-legged pets, because they are man's best friends. There is no more loyal creature in the world than a dog.
There are many breeds, and to learn how to sculpt them properly, you will need perseverance, patience, manual dexterity and a creative mood.
The benefits of modeling with clay
Modelling with clay is a wonderful and useful pastime for a child at home or in kindergarten. Occupation will be enjoyed not only by children but also adults. So moms and dads will be happy to join in the creation of plasticine crafts.
When a child kneads clay in his hands and then molds his figures, it develops fine motor skills and calms the nervous system (through the impact on the fingertips).
In addition, the resulting toys in clay can then play merrily. If you have a desire, then create a whole collection of different breeds of dogs. Especially it will be interesting to future cynologists.
What material is better to mold from?
Plastic mass, if it is high quality, does not stick to surfaces and does not stain your fingers and palms. It is odorless or has a faint but pleasant aroma (not all clay sets).
Top grade clay has juicy bright, but not acidic colors. When buying a clay kit, it is important for parents to pay attention to the composition.
This aspect is especially important if the child is allergic. In this case, you should avoid plastic masses with aggressive chemical additives (solvents, allergenic dyes) and latex.
Kits that have proven to be good:
- "Brauberg" (Russia).
- "Jovi (Italy).
- "Hey Clay" (China).
- "Gamma (Russia).
- "Luch (Russia).
- "Treasure Island" (Russia).
In any case, no matter what kind of plasticine the child is using, after work he needs to wash his hands thoroughly with soap and hot water and ventilate the room.
If plasticine is not on hand, the plastic mass can be made with toilet paper and glue, but it will be a papier-mâché handicraft. These dogs will harden after molding and can be painted.
Mongrel Dog
To make a simple "street" dog in the "sitting" position, you will need:
- Brown, black, yellow and white plasticine;
- stacks.
The process of creation is as follows:
- A piece is plucked from the brown stick and formed into an oval. This is the torso.
- Also, still separate the four parts: two larger and two smaller. Roll them into balls.
- From the balls of larger size to form front paws. To do this, they are pulled in the form of droplets and attached to the top of the spherical body.
- Hind legs are made a little smaller and also glued to the base.
- Next, another ball is formed, about half the size of the body and attached to the top. This - the head of the dog (to better hold it, it sit on a toothpick or matchstick).
- From the two oblong brown pellets make ears and attach them to the sides.
- Next detail the mongrel figure. Pinch two small pieces from the yellow mass, make two "pancakes" and attach them to where the muzzle should be.
- A black cake is used to make a "black eye," and two white circles with black pupils inside are attached to it - the eyes.
- Do not forget about a good volumetric black dog nose.
- Needle next to him imitate the bulbous recesses for whiskers.
- If desired, make a pink bulging tongue.
Cute mutt ready! With it you can play or put in a prominent place to admire the craft.
Puppy with clay
A very easy handicraft, with which the baby will cope as well. For the class you need to prepare:
- A bar of yellow or orange from the plasticine set;
- 1/2 block of white color;
- A little black mass.
How to make step by step:
- The yellow plastic mass is kneaded by warming in the hands and formed from it a thick oval and a slightly smaller ball (almost the same).
- Connect them together. This will be the body and head of the puppy.
- Roll out four small balls of white plasticine. These are the paws. And glue in the lower part of the body, as if the dog sits on four paws.
- Then go to the details. From one white and one yellow cake in a drop shape make oblong ears and attach them to the sides.
- Also, from the white mass roll another ball and attach it to the part of the head where the "face" is. It turns out a slightly convex muzzle.
- The final touch is a large black puppy nose.

Making a Dalmatian out of plasticine is not difficult, if you use a step-by-step technique. You need black and white pieces of plasticine and a plastic knife to apply the details.
Method of execution:
- First make an elongated torso with the neck curved upward from half of the white piece.
- Four white sausages are used to form the paws. The front ones are made in the shape of an inverted letter "G" with a slightly flattened foot and using a stack mark recesses for marigolds.
- Hind legs are slightly larger than front. Their shape is different: the top is slightly flattened, because there is a shin. The dog will be depicted standing up.
- Then a toothpick is inserted into the neck and a spherical head is put on it.
- To make a muzzle, glue another balloon to the "face" and smooth out, making it elongated.
- To make a muzzle attach a large black nose.
- From the white and black tortillas make short ears.
- Small pieces of black plasticine are used to create spots on the coat of Dalmatian. Now this breed is recognizable.
- Add detail to the muzzle: from the pellet of white form the lower lip. All well smooth out with fingers.
- And do not forget one more important detail - a wand-like tail.

- Then pridelivayut legs and tail (not too long).
- Large head is made from a large brown ball and a smaller white one (convexity of the muzzle to show).
- Proceed to the details: you need to show a slightly drooping forehead, a frown from under the eyebrows (glued two thin strips of brown plasticine).
- Also from the thin "sausage" nibble separating strip for the upper part of the face.
- From the black flagellum form the characteristic lips-folds, slightly sagging down.
- From the "pancakes" of yellow and brown make the coat color on the wide back of the Saint Bernard. Smooth well with fingers, and on the back side (side, not sharp) imitate the growth of shaggy hair.
