Ways of using stands

The key to conveying information to the target audience is its proper presentation. The use of various stands makes it possible to inform visitors in a timely manner about important events, and simply to provide visitors to the institution with interesting information.

Stands can perform not only informational or advertising functions. Such constructions are often used as an exhibition area or a board of honor. There are several varieties of stands:

  • Household. They are used in homes for key storage, drawing, games and other household purposes;
  • advertising. Provide potential customers with information about goods and services;
  • exhibition ones. Designed for organization of thematic expositions, as well as for presentation of enterprise products;
  • test stands. Their direct task is to give an opportunity to test different products;
  • informational. They are used to post work study and other information;
  • obligatory. Such constructions should be installed in production, administrative, medical and other institutions. They contain information necessary for work, such as an evacuation plan in case of fire, duty schedule, etc.

Depending on the purpose, stands may have different construction and design.

Materials and Tools

Materials should be selected taking into account the purpose and location of the design. Here, the humidity, cleanliness and microclimate of the room play an important role. Most often, the manufacture of an information panel requires:

  • sheets of plywood;
  • cork board or veneer;
  • Plexiglas or PVC sheets;
  • Wood or metal hacksaw;
  • PVA glue or its equivalent;
  • files for storing documents;
  • metal ruler;
  • a pencil or fine marker;
  • A compass and an angle.

In addition, you can use any available materials. Only attention and care will ensure that the desired result is achieved.

Making with your own hands

To create a stand board at home does not require special skills and tools. It is enough to be responsible and attentive to the work. There are several of the most common options for "home" stands.

From ceiling boards

Inexpensive ceiling boards are perfect for creating author's models. The simplest option is to attach them to the wall with special glue or self-tapping screws with decorative plugs.

The necessary information is fixed with pins with colored hats. The volumetric frame can be made from strips. They can be cut with a stationery knife from the remnants of the panels.

From cork backing

Cork backboard is widely used in the creation of information boards at home. This is due to the high aesthetic characteristics, strength, ease of processing and durability of the material.

In addition, cork carpet pad does not emit toxic substances and does not cause allergic reactions in humans and pets.

To make an informational or decorative board will need cork underlayment for laminate or parquet with a thickness of 1 to 4 mm. The whole work involves several steps:

  1. Create working drawings and prepare the necessary components.
  2. Select the material for the manufacture of the substrate. This can be plywood, fiberboard, chipboard or PVC sheet.
  3. Using a hacksaw cut blanks of the required size.
  4. Glue the cork veneer to the base and carefully trim the protruding edges with a stationery knife.
  5. The finished board is varnished or a special mastic is applied.
  6. Choose a profile for the frame and fasten it to the board. A frame made of wooden baguette, metal or plastic profiles will provide an attractive appearance to the finished product. It is recommended to use a frame, the width of which is slightly greater than the thickness of the board.
  7. On the finished surface, according to the working drawings, pockets for sheets of information are placed. Plexiglas or transparent plastic can be used to make them.
  8. Choose the type of fastening. You can permanently attach the panel to the wall with screws or provide hinged mounting with loops.

The advantages of the front panel of cork are durability, attractive appearance and ease of maintenance.

From a gymnastics mat

As a faceplate, a gymnastic mat can be used instead of cork wood. This accessory is sold in any sports store at an affordable price.

The main advantage of this solution is the variety of colors. In the online store you can choose a color that fully corresponds to the theme of the future construction.

The material is easy to work with and fastened to the plywood base with glue. Otherwise, the production technology is no different from the work with cork substrate.

From a sheet of PVC

The peculiarity of such products is that the PVC sheet can serve as both the base and the front side. A large choice of colors and ease of processing make this material one of the most popular in the manufacture of booth panels. For work you may need:

  • PVC sheet with a thickness of 3 mm;
  • Stationery files or corners for photo albums;
  • PVC profile for edging.

The work is done in the following sequence:

  1. After developing a sketch from PVC sheet is cut out a blank of the necessary shape. This can be done with an electric jigsaw or a hacksaw.
  2. From the remnants of the PVC panel with a jigsaw cut out the letters for the name of the stand. They are glued to the front side of the board with special glue.
  3. The locations of the pockets are marked. Stationery files or pre-made pockets are glued according to the markings.
  4. Frames are made of PVC profile or other material at hand and fastened to the front side of the board. After that, the bulletin board can be attached to the wall with self-tapping screws or hinges.

If necessary, the front side can be painted with acrylic paint. It is recommended to use facade paint for greater durability.

Ideas for stand base design

The decoration of the basis is solely the author's decision.

Here you can let your imagination run wild and use the most unexpected materials and color solutions.

Despite this, there are some time-tested developments by professional designers and home craftsmen.

Stand layout

In order for the information to be easily perceived, it is necessary to properly mark the front side of the product. The effectiveness of the information panel will depend on the location of pockets and inscriptions. A few basic recommendations should be taken into account here:

  • with a clear division into zones, the reader can immediately go to the information of interest;
  • a large number of pictures and other design solutions distracts the reader and scatters his attention. This is why decorative elements should not be abused;
  • the main information should be highlighted in large print. In addition, it should be possible to quickly replace obsolete information;
  • only relevant information should be placed in the thematic areas;
  • photos, drawings and actual copies of a particular manufacturer can be placed in the exhibition area.

Plexiglas pockets

One of the most affordable options for information pockets is the use of standard stationery files. They are attached to the front panel with glue or double-sided tape.

For a more presentable product it is advisable to make the information windows yourself. This will require additional effort and materials, but will give originality and style to the finished product. To make pockets for ads with your own hands you need:

  1. On the available sheet of Plexiglas, draw the outline of the future cell. Its standard size corresponds to the format of A4 (210x297 mm), plus 10-15 mm on the left and right side.
  2. Saw out the workpiece with a jigsaw or electric jigsaw. To ensure the smooth insertion and extraction of sheets, on one side of a rectangle cut a corner of arbitrary size.
  3. After that, it is necessary to cut strips from the leftover Plexiglas. Their width will determine how much of the pocket is set back from the front plane, and the length corresponds to the size of the previously cut billet.
  4. Strips are glued to the workpiece on three sides. The exception is its upper edge.
  5. Thus obtained pocket glue to the board according to the markings.

Thus, with a little time, you can greatly increase the aesthetic characteristics of the stand.

Wooden frame

Frames made of natural wood allow you to give your stand an original and presentable appearance. Both baguettes and any other profile can be used as blanks. In some cases, even an ordinary beam catches the reader's eye.

The wooden frame can be attached to the front panel both with glue and self-tapping screws on the back side.

The wood can be treated with a stain and varnish to make it more attractive.

Using different colors

Another important point in the design of stands is the use of different colors. With the help of color solutions you can significantly increase the degree of attractiveness of the stand.

There are several classic options for the design of information panels. For elementary schools, shades of green and orange are most often used.

Middle school students respond more to blue and yellow colors. High school students are more likely to pay attention to information posted on red and blue stands.

If despite all efforts the booth does not attract proper attention, attention should be paid to the following:

  • The way the information is presented;
  • the size of the font;
  • Frequency of replacement of the information;
  • location of the booth.

To increase the popularity of the information panel, it is also advisable to study the experience of more successful colleagues whose stands constantly attract the attention of readers.
