This wonderful tradition is gaining popularity from year to year and what kind of copies can't be found on the Internet.
Buying decorations is one thing, but making them by your own hands is a more difficult but interesting task. Could the German pastor have guessed that his invention would become so popular?
Technology of making New Year's wreaths
There are no strict rules for making Christmas wreaths. The main condition is that it must be round and ergonomic, so it can be hung on the door or placed on a table. As materials will do:
- natural spruce branches
- artificial branches
- tinsel
- cones
- ribbons
- bottle caps.
Anything your imagination can involve. Most often, these crafts are performed in green and red colors, using flecks of gold or silver. All sorts of bells and bells are used.
In the traditional version it was customary to use candles. Later this idea was abandoned because of the high fire hazard. It is possible to use candles not real ones. Use for the manufacture of such decorations and mistletoe - this is an evergreen plant, which is called the "branch of kisses".
Materials and tools for work
Depending on the model of the craft, you need to choose the materials. We need a round base. It can be plastic, metal, foam plastic, wood, or you can gather it from the spruce branches.
Need and decorations: bells, ribbons, cones, candles, artificial snow. Of tools: scissors ordinary and garden, pliers, glue gun, wire and thread.
New Year's wreath with their own hands from different materials
The classic version is made from spruce branches. For those who feel sorry for the trees or simply lack them, alternative options from tinsel, felt, Christmas balls, ribbons, fabric, cones, yarn, paper and even from plastic bottles - what's the imagination.
You don't have to spend money - the less money you spend to create a Christmas decoration, the more original it can turn out.
From tinsel
One of the easiest ways to make a Christmas decoration is to make it out of tinsel:
- You need to take any circle base and tinsel of the desired color. With green tinsel you can create an imitation of a Christmas tree wreath, but, if desired, you can also take tinsel of other colors: gold, silver, blue or other, depending on the decor in the house.
- Use wire or thread to fix the tinsel to any part of the base and then gradually wrap it around the base, threading the tinsel in and out.
- When the circle is completely wrapped - cut off the rest of the tinsel and fix the end with wire or string.
- For decorations you can use a gift wrap ribbon of a suitable color, which should be wrapped around the wreath in the same way as the tinsel, bells, artificial mistletoe and small balls.
From spruce branches
A classic wreath is made from spruce branches. To do this, you can take different pine branches, or branches of one kind, form from them small bundles of wreaths and with the help of wire, preferably of green color, in turn and in the same direction fix them on the base.
Once the entire base is filled and the wreath is quite fluffy, you can proceed to decoration. To such a decoration will perfectly suit fir cones, which can be painted in gold or silver, ribbons, bells and other accessories of Christmas themes.
Attaching a small ribbon, it is easy to hang the product on the wall or door or just put it on the table.
Made of felt
The original Christmas wreath is made of felt. To create it, you will need a wide foam base and felt.
From the felt it is necessary to cut out leaves. Green - if you decide to make an imitation of mistletoe leaves, or any other color if you make ordinary pointed leaves.
After you have cut enough leaves, you need to attach them to the foam base. You can do this with pins or hot glue.
If you have a mistletoe wreath - you need to add red berries from beads or felt. You can do otherwise - cut colored felt into strips and wrap them around the circle, it should not be very wide.
From Christmas tree balls
Left a lot of Christmas decorations - it will not be out of place to create from them a unique decoration, which is easy to perform. You'll need a wire base, which, for example, you can make from an ordinary thin hanger.
Next, you just need to thread the balls on the wire, and if you want to add volume, tying some of them with threads. You can use both single-colored and multi-colored balls. Such a wreath will organically complement the fresh spruce branches and ribbons.
From ribbons on a cardboard base
A very simple and elegant piece is made of ribbons. To do the work, take a thick sheet of cardboard. It is used to cut out a round base, resembling a bagel. The rest is up to your imagination.
You can simply wrap the base with ribbons. You can pre-strand the ribbons and make an "accordion" - so the wreath will be more voluminous.
Fix the ribbons with pins, thread or hot glue. As decorations are suitable flowers from ribbons and beads. Ribbons can be wrapped around the foam base - so the wreath will be three-dimensional.
And playing with the colors of ribbons and decorations you can use the wreath for year-round use - decorating it for spring holidays or using the gifts of the fall.
From fabric
To make a handicraft made of fabric you will need strips of fabric 4-10 centimeters wide, the base and decorations. If the fabric is not very dense, it is possible to string it with an accordion directly on a wire base.
If it is dense, armed with thread and a needle, you must first make an accordion, and then wrap it around the base on the principle of a version of tinsel. This option is good because to the fabric part you can sew decorations: for example, snow from beads, or sew a fabric snowman or a textile sprig of mistletoe.
With balls of yarn
The wreath from balls of yarn is an unusual and labor-intensive piece. To make it, you will need a strong base and a sufficient number of Styrofoam balls. On each of them, you need to wind a certain amount of yarn so that the balls began to resemble balls of thread.
It is important to fix the end of each thread. Using thermal adhesive, you need to glue the "balls" to the base. It is best to use no more than three colors of yarn.
If the foam balls are not enough - it is allowed to use Christmas tree balls, which can be simply alternated with "balls", or you can wrap them with yarn. The handicraft turns out bright and saturated - it is not necessary to apply a lot of decorations. A few textile snowflakes or ribbons will be enough.
Made of cones
For a wreath made of cones you can use both wire base and foam. The process of creating this work is just as labor-intensive, but the result usually exceeds expectations. You need to wrap cones with wire, tucking it between the scales.
If you want, you can paint the cones: completely, making your handicraft in white and blue winter colors, or lightly "powder" with gold, silver or white paint the edges of the scales.
If the base is made of wire - you need to wind the cones to it, if foam - you just need to put the wire in it. An interesting option is to make a circle of twigs, and several cones to tape to the base in any order.
Cones will alternate nicely with Christmas tree balls as well. The decor is suitable classic - ribbons, beads and spruce branches will make the craft bright and festive.
From plastic bottles
A wreath made of plastic bottles will not only decorate the house, but also help recycle recyclable materials. You will need a lot of plastic bottles of the same size. There are gold and silver copies - they do not have to be painted, but the transparent bottles are better to paint in your preferred color.
The bottom of each bottle should be cut out in the shape of a flower or star and a small hole should be made in the very center of the bottom of the former bottle. Take a wire base (a wire from a hanger will work well) and thread the "flowers" on it face-to-face.
Decorate the resulting product with ribbons, balls or bells.
From paper
A lot of options for paper decorations can be found on the Internet. To create it is very simple: it is enough to take a cardboard base and green paper of one or more kinds. Next - as you like.
You can cut out leaves, palms or twist small tubes of paper, fixing them with glue. It is possible to make from paper a lot of bows, accordions or cut out of it a lot of small fluffy twigs and glue them to the base.
It is possible to do without a base, if the sheet of paper to cross out every centimeter, leaving on the sides of a small distance. Fold the sheet diagonally and form a ring out of it. A variant of newspaper, which can be decorated with red and green ribbons, will also turn out interesting.
Creating a Christmas wreath is a great way not only to decorate the house, but also to spend time with your loved ones in an entertaining way. When, if not during the New Year holidays, it is important to feel the warmth and comfort of home. A wreath is a great handmade gift.
As you can see from the article, it is possible to make it from many improvised materials - the main thing is the desire. And though the tradition of decorating the house with Christmas wreaths is fairly new and came to us from abroad, it is quickly gaining popularity, and there are a lot of offers to sell wreaths.
But if you buy a decoration, you can be deprived of the great joy of beauty creation and subsequent contemplation.
