Handmade paper dress

To make a creative paper outfit you can use any kind of paper. From ordinary white sheets of A4 you can create an amazing dress, applying geometric shapes for decoration.

You can make a bright dress out of colored paper, a light dress out of corrugated paper or out of ordinary paper napkins. Here you decide which kind you like and with what you will be more interesting to work. Let's look at several variants of paper dresses.

Dress from colored paper

Colored paper can be the basis for creating very interesting and colorful dresses. To make a short dress you will need:

  • colored paper;
  • office scissors;
  • glue or stapler;
  • duct tape;
  • Any dress or T-shirt for the base.

First prepare the paper:

  • For the bodice, fold the sheets of paper, then the dress will have an interesting texture. For the bottom, fold the paper with a fan or twist it into a cone.
  • After preparing the details, put the base on the model and shape the bodice from the crumpled sheets, stapling them together with glue or a stapler.
  • Then fix the adhesive tape with the sticky side up on the waist of the model and glue the pre-prepared parts of the skirt. For a sturdier product, stitch all the parts with thread.

If you want to create a more interesting version of a paper dress, it is worth spending a little more time on it.

Sew the top according to the crumpled paper pattern and add wide drop shoulders, and for the bottom use a frame made of felt paper. Build a frame in the form of a crinoline or a voluminous girdle. The skirt can be wide or narrow, long or short.

Consider several options for decorating a paper dress:

  1. Paper flowers. They can be folded or cut out. From colored paper, cut flowers from templates or fold volumetric flowers in the Japanese technique of origami. And then add them to your product with glue or stapler. It is worth noting that this type of decoration is able to hide small deformed areas.
  2. Coloring. Painting white sheets in advance with watercolor, colored pencils or felt-tip pens, you will add color to your product. And if you draw an unusual pattern on the white paper, the product will have its own personality. It is also possible to paint an already finished outfit, using a can of paint. The technique of painting can be any: monochrome, gradient or with the emphasis on individual parts.

Dress from toilet paper

Creating a dress out of toilet paper can be very time-consuming, since it tears quite easily.

However, if properly prepared, such a dress is able to make a lasting impression on others. The process of making an outfit from such material can be both the simplest and very complex.

The uncomplicated way of making it consists of gluing scraps of toilet paper on a frame created in advance, or attaching long paper ribbons to the bodice to get a flying dress to the floor.

To make an extraordinary version you will need:

  • toilet paper in two colors;
  • needle and thread;
  • duct tape;
  • PVA glue.

Draw a short dress pattern on a piece of cotton paper, cut it out, and tape or stitch it together. Then prepare the toilet paper for work. To do this, soak it and combine it with PVA glue. Spread this consistency evenly on the cotton paper template and leave it until it hardens completely.

Decorate the skirt with flowers from toilet paper. To do this, fold a strip of toilet paper at one side and secure it with a stapler.

Make a large number of such voluminous flowers and glue them on the main dress. To make the image more romantic, add a train of glued A4 sheets and glue on it a lot of small flowers like this.

There is also a way of twisting toilet paper into bundles. Such a decoration will look daring. Prepared in advance, the flagellum should be wet and glued to a short base in the form of any pattern or picture, leave it until it dries completely.

Long harnesses are attached with a stapler to the hem of the skirt in a circle, the excess must be trimmed.

Applying these methods, you will get the most unusual dress, and no one will believe that it was created from hand-made material.

An outfit made of corrugated paper

Corrugated paper (crepe) can be a good material for making a light, delicate look. To create an outfit from crepe, you need to prepare the following set of tools:

  • Watman;
  • corrugated paper of several colors;
  • office scissors;
  • stapler.

The basis, as in the previous variants, will be the felt paper:

  • Take the measurements from the model and cut out the bodice and skirt according to them, then staple them together.
  • The bottom will be embellished with sliced large petals of crepe.
  • To make the dress interesting, alternate different colors and for puffiness stack the cut out parts in several layers. Attach the prepared petals to the base with a stapler.
  • Decorate the top with any paper flowers. You can create a unique work of art, for this you should learn different techniques of making paper flowers.

Rice paper dress

Rice paper can be used to create an unusual dress according to the examples mentioned above. The only thing you need to know: rice paper should be soaked in water, give it the necessary shape and staple it to the base slightly damp, because then it will harden and become solid.

You can dye it both with brushes and by simply dipping it in tinted water.

This version of the outfit will be able to conquer even famous designers, as there is no such dress on the Internet yet.

Dress from napkins

An original image can be created from ordinary paper napkins. It is quite easy to work with them. To make a dress from napkins, prepare the following materials:

  • Watman;
  • Multicolored napkins;
  • scissors;
  • stapler;
  • glue or tape.

First, take the measurements of the model. Then cut out the top and skirt from cotton paper according to your measurements, and tape the parts together.

Now decorate the base with napkins. Show your imagination here. For example, glue the napkins in a circle at one corner and in several rows. Then the dress will be flying and airy. Or stick them tightly to the base for a more sophisticated straight dress.

You can also glue the napkins accordion tightly together for a layered skirt. Attach the napkins in staggered order or use multiple colors (for example, each row of a different color).

Make the bodice floral. You will need 6-8 napkins to get puffy flowers. Cut out circles and staple the middle with a stapler, then make notches in the circle and fluff up the edges of the napkins. Arrange the napkins in any order, it all depends on your creative idea.

Dress out of newspaper

Newspaper is a common, low-budget and non-boring material for creating an unusual paper outfit.

Let's look at a few ideas for making dresses out of newspapers.

The first option is a "harmonica dress". To work take:

  • newspapers;
  • scissors;
  • a stapler;
  • Any belt or strap.

First make the blanks. For this purpose unfold two sheets of newspaper, put them one on another and fold them into a tight accordion.

Prepare four such folds and staple them into one long piece.

Then wrap the model with the fabric of the folded newspaper, staple it to the back and put a belt or a belt around the waist.

The dress will be more realistic if you stitch the waist line with threads and add straps of newspaper.

The second version is made of newspaper strips.

You will need:

  • newspaper;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • stapler;
  • Any straight dress for the base;
  • salt.

To make the dress, follow these steps:

  • Cut newspaper strips 12-15 cm. wide and fold them horizontally four times.
  • Then make a V-shaped neckline out of these pieces, fixing the strips to the shoulders of the base.
  • For making the corset, prepare a solution of salt and PVA glue. With this solution, treat the pre-cut long strips of newspaper, glue them around the torso and leave it to dry completely. Cut holes in the back and lace the corset with tape.
  • Glue the newspaper strips around the base all the way down. Here you can improvise and create a unique outfit.

The third option is a dress with a newspaper horn skirt:

  • The base for the skirt will be made of cotton paper in the shape of a cone reaching down to the floor. To decorate the skirt make newspaper horns and attach them by the corner to the base of the cotton paper to the end of the dress.
  • Make the top from crumpled newspaper sheets. Add a high collar of folded accordion sheets of newspaper.
